Yes. Prolific is a long-running research-participant platform with strong reviews; pay is per study and small, and reviewers report account holds and slow support.

Who is behind it

Prolific was founded in 2014 (job listings name Phelim Bradley as co-founder and CEO) and joined Y Combinator's Summer 2019 batch, according to its own blog. In July 2023 it announced a Series A of about 25 million pounds co-led by Partech and Oxford Science Enterprises; US outlets reported the same round as $32 million. BusinessCloud reported it had been bootstrapped and profitable since 2020.

Getting paid

Prolific's participant help centre says payouts go to PayPal (via Hyperwallet), with a minimum cash-out of 6 pounds or 6 dollars and a 72-hour wait after any change to your PayPal address after new PayPal details are added. Reviewers on Trustpilot mostly praise fast payouts but some report small payments being slow; a 2018 blog quotes a lower 5-pound minimum, which looks out of date.
