On October 17, 2026 our feed held 155 live listings tagged Arabic. 106 of them are one batch fromMindrift that we cover separately below, so this guide is built on the other49, from 9 platforms. Only 27 of those state an hourly rate in the feed, and 20 of the 27 are Meridial's.
Arabic is not one market. The listings name specific dialects, the platforms pay very differently depending on where you live, and several figures in the feed are not what the listing text says. Every number below comes from the listings themselves.
Dialects: which Arabic they want
Meridial lists 10 dialect-specific roles: Egyptian, Emirati, Gulf, Iraqi, Levantine and Yemeni, with two each for Gulf, Iraqi, Levantine and Yemeni. Welo Data's Project Keid video listings are for Yemeni, Gulf, Iraqi and Levantine/Iraqi speakers. CrowdGen runs Gulf Arabic speech projects in the UAE, Qatar and Saudi Arabia and a Modern Standard Arabic project in Qatar, and Babel Audio wants Egyptian Arabic voice actors. If you speak one variety natively, say so on the application.
The kinds of Arabic work
Recording speech and video
The CrowdGen speech listings for the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar ask you to read and record 500 short Arabic sentences in the Appen Mobile app. A session takes 1 to 2 hours, and you are paid when you finish, provided at least 90% of your recordings pass quality review. The feed shows $35 (Saudi Arabia), $40 (UAE) and $50 (Qatar), but the listing text does not state an amount. CrowdGen's Egypt project is smaller: short, one-sided phone calls to an imaginary bank or retailer, at $0.50 per approved session, with at least 4 approved sessions needed to be paid ($2.00). It asks for a recent iPhone.
Welo Data's Project Keid asks for a 15 to 20 second video of you speaking naturally to the camera. The recordings help train a model to tell real human video from AI-generated video. The listings state $4.00 to $15.00 depending on your country. AfterQuery wants Arabic-accented English speakers for a recording of about 15 minutes, paid at $50 flat per submission, with only 3 to 5 speakers wanted for the accent (the feed shows $30 an hour). Babel Audio's Egyptian Arabic voice-actor listing states $90 per recorded hour in its text, although the feed shows its generic $60 to $150 range, and its Arabic transcriber role states up to $110 per audio hour transcribed.
Evaluating and rating Arabic output
SME Careers lists an Arabic Language Expert at up to $15 an hour, open to Egypt, Saudi Arabia and South Africa, and an Arabic team lead who oversees quality at up to $40 an hour. The Language Expert listing says there is no immediate project. Welo Data has translation quality raters and reviewers in the UAE at $22.69 and $28.36 an hour, who improve machine-translated customer service content. Turing lists an AI Quality Analyst at $15 an hour for a 3-month engagement, and OneForma lists an Arabic AI safety evaluator and a post-editing role paid per word.
Subject experts who also speak Arabic
Beyond its 10 dialect roles, Meridial has 7 domain roles for people fluent in Arabic (medical, STEM, science, mathematics, coding and chemistry), a language specialist, a language alignment role and a voice actor. They are tied to Egypt (6), Saudi Arabia (2), Kuwait (1) or the United States (1), or open worldwide (10).
The same language, very different pay
| Listing | What it states | Where |
|---|---|---|
| CrowdGen phone-call recording | $0.50 per approved session | Egypt |
| Braintrust photo project | $1.00 per approved asset (about $14/hr by its own estimate) | Morocco |
| Welo Data Generative AI Analyst | $4.50/hr | Morocco |
| Welo Data video recording | $4 to $15, by country | Several countries |
| Turing AI Quality Analyst | $15/hr | Remote |
| SME Careers Language Expert | Up to $15/hr | Egypt, Saudi Arabia, South Africa |
| Welo Data translation rater and reviewer | $22.69 and $28.36/hr | UAE |
| SME Careers team lead | Up to $40/hr | Egypt, Saudi Arabia |
| Meridial | $6 or $8 up to $65/hr | Mostly Egypt or worldwide |
| Babel Audio voice actor / transcriber | $90 per recorded hour / up to $110 per audio hour | Remote |
Two Morocco listings and Egypt's phone-call project sit at the bottom, and the UAE translation roles sit well above them. The listings often say as much: Welo Data prices by country, and Meridial says its rate is set after evaluating your experience, expertise and geographic location.
Where the listings are open
Counting the countries that the 49 listings name, Egypt comes first with 12, then Saudi Arabia with 6, the UAE with 3, and Morocco, Qatar and the United States with 2 each. 19 listings state no country restriction. Our Egypt and Saudi Arabia pages list the roles that name each country.
A batch of 106 Mindrift listings, treated separately
On October 14 and 15, 106 Arabic listings from Mindrift appeared in our feed. We have left them out of every figure in this guide, for three reasons. None of them includes a description, so the feed does not say what the work is. They are near-duplicates: all 106 sit in the same department, “Creator (Writer)”, as part-time roles located in New York, and 72 of the titles promise $100 an hour, 4 promise up to $2,400 in 3 days, and 26 are pitched at students. And they are open only to people in the United States, although they target 43 Saudi and 46 Emirati Arabic speakers, among others.
We cannot tell from the listings what these are, and they may be genuine research recruitment. But they read differently from the rest of the guide, so verify the work on Mindrift's own site before you apply, and never pay anything to be considered.
The catches
- Ceilings are not offers. Meridial's $65 is the top of a stated range that starts at $6 or $8.
- The feed can differ from the text. Babel Audio's Egyptian voice-actor role states $90, not $60 to $150, and AfterQuery pays a flat $50 per submission, not $30 an hour.
- Per audio hour is not per hour worked. Babel Audio's up to $110 is for each hour of audio you transcribe.
- Quality gates decide pay. CrowdGen pays only if at least 90% of a session passes review.
- Residence matters. Several listings require you to live in a named country, among them Qatar, the UAE, Morocco and Egypt.
Common questions
Do I need Modern Standard Arabic or a dialect?
It depends on the role. CrowdGen's Qatar evaluator listing asks for Modern Standard Arabic, while many others ask for a named dialect. Check which variety each listing wants.
Can I work from outside the Arab world?
Some roles allow it. Meridial has 10 worldwide-eligible listings, Turing's analyst role is remote, and AfterQuery wants Arabic-accented English speakers. Others require you to live in a named country.
Which platform should I try first?
For a stated hourly rate and a clear task, Welo Data's UAE roles and Turing's analyst role. For breadth, Meridial. Compare them on the pay report and see our bilingual speakers guide.
