Senior Music Transcriber — MIDI & Notation (Generative Music)

About this role

**Mercor is hiring senior music transcribers** to produce multi-track MIDI transcriptions of full compositions for a frontier generative-music AI lab. This is the highest-skill music-understanding work: separating the parts, identifying every note — its pitch, timing, and velocity — and the underlying harmony, then writing them down as symbolic ground truth, one instrument per track and aligned to the audio. **You'll:** - Transcribe full mixes (or provided stems) into accurate multi-track MIDI - Capture pitch, onset, duration, velocity, harmony/key, modulations, and polyphony - Follow a consistent MIDI spec (quantization, tempo map, drum mapping, pitch bends) **You're a fit if you:** - Have professional transcription / notation experience (session work, arranging, engraving, or equivalent) - Are fluent in a DAW or notation tool (Logic, Cubase, Reaper, Pro Tools, Sibelius, MuseScore, etc.) - Can transcribe polyphonic, multi-instrument material accurately by ear - Have strong music theory (harmony, voice leading) and rhythmic precision **Details:** Remote · flexible hours · a sample transcription for calibration before staffing · background check + confidentiality agreement required.
